Cannon Hill Parish
Centenary Celebration

Sunday, 3rd August 2025

St Oliver Plunkett Church (formerly Blessed Oliver Plunkett Church) was built over 100 years ago and the opening by Melbourne Archbishop Daniel Mannix in 1921 drew crowds from all over Brisbane.

The site of the church was chosen by the visionary Brisbane Archbishop James Duhig who selected hilltop locations across Brisbane for new Catholic churches.

Unfortunately, the 100th Anniversary of the church’s opening occurred during the Covid pandemic, so celebrations were postponed until this year, where we instead celebrate the centenary of the year when the Cannon Hill Catholic Parish was established (formerly, the church was part of the neighbouring Bulimba Parish).

Please save the date to join Archbishop Mark Coleridge, the church and school community as we celebrate this milestone together.

A special Centenary Mass will be held at 9.15am at St Oliver Plunkett Church, followed by a community BBQ and a fascinating display showcasing 100 years of parish history and memorabilia.

This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the rich history of our Parish, share memories and come together in thanksgiving.

Please RSVP by Friday, 25th July 2025
