Baptism Celebration – 6th July 2025
June 12, 2025
You Are Invited
to a Baptism Celebration
on Sunday, 6th July 2025
Did you know that your baptism makes you a priest, a prophet and a king?
Through baptism, we all become heirs to the Kingdom of God and every Christian shares in Christ’s mission (CCC 783–786).
We are called to live as priests, offering our lives in prayer and loving service (Romans 12:1); as prophets, proclaiming God’s truth and witnessing to our faith (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 9:16); and as kings, leading with compassion and working for justice (2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 1:6). This sacred calling begins at baptism and shapes the way we live each day.
Yet this extraordinary privilege is rarely celebrated. Many of us were baptised as infants or children, before we could understand the full meaning and richness of this Sacrament — and over time, the importance of baptism may have faded amidst the busyness and distractions of life.
Let us journey together and rediscover the meaning of our baptism. Take a moment to find out the date you were baptised and celebrate it annually. It is our spiritual birth into the Church.
This year, a special Mass will be held on Sunday, 6th July at 9.30am at St Oliver Plunkett Church, Cannon Hill to celebrate our baptisms.
As a Parish, we have the opportunity to help others reconnect with their faith and their faith community. Each of us can play a part in evangelisation by helping someone close to us rediscover the love of God.
To do this, we ask you to reach out to any baptised Catholics in your life — your children, grandchildren, friends, neighbours, or even an acquaintance — and invite them to this Mass. Leaflets are available at the Church entrance — please take one and extend a personal invitation to your loved ones.
One of Jesus’ final commands to his followers was:
“Go, make disciples everywhere. Baptise them in my name. Teach them to observe the things I have taught you. And remember, I am with you always, until the end of time.”
We hope to see you — and those you care about — there.
As always, there will be good food and hospitality afterwards!
