As Fr Basti prepares for his new posting, Fr Vasanthan will be celebrating Masses for the Parish from now on.
Fr Vasanthan’s full name is Rev Fr Thevavasantharasa Anthonipillai OMI.
He was born in 1979 in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, joined the Oblate Minor Seminary in 1997, completed his priestly formation in 2012 and was ordained a priest in 2013.
Before coming to Australia, Fr Vasanthan served in different Oblate missions in Sri Lanka as preacher, Parish Priest and worked with
alcohol and drug dependent people.
After arriving in Australia in July 2022, Fr Vasanthan was appointed Assistant Pastor to an Oblate parish in Victoria and then to the Oblate Parish in New South Wales.
He now takes his place as Parish Administrator at the Cannon Catholic Parish.
