Parish Priest
Fr Vasanthan Anthonipillai OMI
Fr Vasanthan's full name is Reverend Father Thevavasantharasa Anthonipillai OMI.
Born on 2nd December 1979 in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, he joined the Oblate Minor Seminary in 1997.
Completing his Priestly formation in 2012, he was then ordained a Priest of God on 15th June 2013 and served in different Oblate missions in Sri Lanka, acting as a preacher, Parish Priest and working with alcoholics and drug-addicts.
Fr Vasanthan arrived in Australia on 5th July 2022.
He was first appointed as Assistant Pastor in one of the Oblate parishes in Victoria and later to the Oblate Parish at Eaglevale in New South Wales.
While serving at Eagle Vale, it was announced that Fr Vasanthan would become Parish Priest of Cannon Hill Catholic Parish in Queensland and started his appointment here from 1st February 2024.
Fr Vasanthan was officially installed as Parish Priest by Archbishop Mark Coleridge (Archbishop of Brisbane) on 18th August 2024.
