The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Thank you for seeking information about RCIA!

RCIA is the Catholic Church’s way of bringing new members into the Catholic family. It is a time where conversion of the heart brings a person closer to Jesus Christ.

Everyone is welcome to participate in RCIA preparation, especially those who:

  • have not been Baptised,
  • have been Baptised, but have had little contact with the Catholic Church since, and
  • those who want to learn, ask questions and have more knowledge about the Catholic Faith.

If that is you or someone you know, we will soon be running RCIA to give people a deeper appreciation and understanding of Catholic beliefs and practices.

All are welcome to attend the sessions and there is no obligation for non-Catholics to convert.

Enrolments for RCIA close on Friday, 18th October 2024.

RCIA generally takes place over an extended period of time. Normally, it commences towards the end of the year and culminates in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil the following year.

At the Easter Vigil Mass, adults who have journeyed through the RCIA process are Baptised, celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation and then receive the Body and Blood of Jesus for the first time at the Table of the Eucharist.

You are welcome to contact the Parish Office with any initial queries you have regarding RCIA. We can explain the details of the process and answer any of your questions.

If at any time you are exploring the possibility of wanting to become a fully initiated Catholic, you are welcome to contact the Parish Office and arrange a time to talk to the Parish Priest or the Sacramental Coordinator.
